WBC-or-BUST: Day 1, Seattle/Woodinville
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 23

An exciting first day’s itinerary has been announced for the WBC-or-BUST road trip to begin Wednesday, June 23rd – leading up to the Wine Bloggers Conference in Walla Walla.

Beginning the day in Seattle, invited bloggers and guests will be picked up in the morning downtown and shuttled out to Woodinville for an afternoon of tasting.

Food & Wine Pairing at Ste. Michelle
The first stop of the day will take place at Chateau Ste. Michelle, Washington’s original Chateau and founding winery. Following a guided tour our guest bloggers will enjoy an informative food and wine pairing experience.

Woodinville Grand Tasting at Willows Lodge
From the grounds of Chateau Ste. Michelle we’ll cross the street to Willows Lodge, one of Woodinville’s premier resorts in the heart of Western Washington wine country. Inside the lodge, bloggers will take part in a Grand Tasting of select wines from various Woodinville producers poured by the winemakers, afterward enjoying a lunch at Barking Frog.

Palate Refresher at Pike Brewery
At the close of the Woodinville Grand Tasting we’ll re-board the shuttle and make the short trip back to Seattle for a palate refresher at Pike Brewery, located near the historic Pike Place Market. At Pike bloggers will enjoy a tour of the facility, which also houses a museum tracing 8,000 years of beer history.

From the brewery we’ll transport our guests to the downtown Renaissance Seattle Hotel to check-in, get some rest, and take the opportunity to write/blog about the day’s events. Or, with only dinner remaining, guests may feel free to wander around downtown Seattle seeing the sights and enjoying some downtime.

Seattle Winemakers Dinner
The close of the day will culminate in a feast for the senses with a special winemaker's dinner along Seattle’s famous waterfront at the Waterfront Seafood Grill. Voted 2007 restaurant of the year by the Washington Wine Commission, bloggers will enjoy a spectacular multi-course meal paired alongside Seattle's finest views of Elliott Bay, Magnolia Bluff and the Space Needle, along with premier Washington wines from various area wineries.

Now if that’s not a Washington wine experience to top all others I don’t know what is… Until the next day that is, when we depart Seattle and head East making our way toward Walla Walla via the Washington wine highway.
